关于Caillou的一篇很好的Review
Caillou (pronounced Kie-Yoo) is a 4-year-old boy with a vivid imagination – a VERY vivid imagination. Oh, his days start out ordinary enough, but when his creativity kicks into gear, there's no telling what can happen. That's the premise of these sweet stories geared for preschoolers.
Surrounded by his parents, his little sister, Rosie, his grandparents, and his friends, Caillou is all about the adventures found in his own backyard. Or school or park, for that matter. No matter where he is or what he's doing, Caillou finds opportunities to learn and grow everywhere. And things don't always go the way you planned, but that's ok. It might even turn out better! As Mommy says, "When things go wrong, it's best to look on the bright side."
As with a few other un-named preschool shows, the songs and simple-talk in this DVD are perfect for preschoolers, but ultra-annoying for grownups. I'm just warning you, in case you end up with the theme song running in your head for days on end: "I'm just a kid who's four, each day I grow some more, I like exploring, I'm Caillou…"
This DVD contains four 30-minute episodes, each divided into three 7-minute adventures. I know – the math isn't right, but somehow it all works out. Here's the rundown:
1) Caillou the Artiste. The little guy gets creative in more ways than one. In "Caillou's Present," he makes something for Mommy, then has a pizza party with Jeffrey and Jason in "Caillou the Chef." Finally, in "Caillou the Painter," Grandma comes for a visit and gets to see his work of art.
2) Springtime for Caillou. In "Caillou's Valentines," he delivers his Valentines in a special way. In "Hello Spring!," Caillou celebrates the joys of spring. And in "Caillou's April Fool," he learns how much fun it is to make a funny joke on April 1st.
3) Caillou Outdoors. It's all about the great outdoors in this trio of stories. In "Shoo, Shoo Bird, Fly Away," Caillou helps Mommy make a scarecrow for the garden. "Caillou's Road Trip" finds him discovering how much fun a road trip can be. And in "Caillou, the Dragon Tamer," he realizes the special talents of a boy named Alan.
4) Caillou's Surprise. Life never goes as planned, but that's ok! In "Caillou's Surprise," he makes a cup for Mommy in Grandma's pottery class. "A Surprise for Miss Martin" is all about just that. And "A Surprise Sleepover" is what Caillou has when a storm causes a power outage.
PRESCHOOLERS (ages 2-5): These gentle stories are perfect for preschoolers who, like Caillou, are learning new things about their world every day. And what better way to learn than through imagination? Even savvy adults know that role-playing and visualization help to develop self-confidence, independence, and a sense of place in the world. Whether you're an adult or a kid, that can take you a long way in life and help you accomplish things you never thought possible.
And even though these Caillou stories are all about pretending, he's firmly grounded in reality, beginning and ending each day with normal routines. In short, he knows the difference between real life and make-believe (also a good thing to learn early in life!). |
