46.Caillou's Big Slide

Storyteller: Still not glad children? It’s story time. Wow, looked at caillou. He looks scared. Can you guess why? This story is called “Caillou's Big Slide”. Caillou was having a wonderful time at the playground.

Caillou: Watch me, watch me!

Caillou: Choochoo! I’m a train daddy.

Clementine: hi, Caillou.

Caillou: Hi, Clementine. I’m playing choochoo

Clementine: Can I play too?

Storyteller: Clementine and caillou were having fun playing choochoo train. But Clementine had an idea.

Clementine: Wanna play slide?

Caillou: yes!

Clementine: No, not that one, that one.

Storyteller: Clementine was going to slide with the big kids plan. But when caillou got to the slide, it seemed very big and very very high.

Caillou: It’s too high.

Storyteller: Ciallou was frightened.

Clementine: come on, Caillou.

Caillou: I wanna play here first.

Storyteller: So caillou convinced Clementine to play in the tube instead.

Clementine: Catch me, Caillou.

Caillou: Here I come. Got you!

Daddy: Hum,It’s getting late, Caillou. We have to leave soon.

Caillou: Oh, no!

Clementine: Come on, Caillou.

Caillou: It’s high. But I’m not afraid. You go first.

Clementine: Hahhaa~wee~! That was fun. Come on, Caillou. It’s your turn.

Clementine: Slide, Caillou, slide. It’s fun.

Clementine: side, Caillou.

Caillou: I’m not scared.

Storyteller: But really caillou was very scared.

Caillou: Daddy,Daddy!

Clementine: Caillou’s crying. He’s scared. I’m not scared. It’s easy.

Daddy: What’s the matter, Caillou? Hum, well, it is a big scary slide! It doesn't look like fun all. I know what could we do? Why don’t you slide down with me? One, two, three, go!

Storyteller: Caillou was thrilled, but Clementine wasn’t impressed

Clementine: I went by myself.

Caillou: Yeah! I went all by myself. It’s easy.

Daddy: Well, it’s time to go home, Caillou.

Caillou: I’ll be right back.

Caillou: Wee~! One more time, daddy?

But as it turned out, it wasn’t just one more time after all.

Grandma, read us a story.
Storyteller:
Ah, a story about Caillou. Just look what he's doing. Today's story is called "caillou plays baby". All morning Caillou and Rosie had been busy. Very busy.
Mommy:
Oh, no. How could you two make such a mess? Really. How about a little clean up before lunch, Caillou? Caillou, help me clean up, please.
Caillou:
But Rosie isn't cleaning up.
Mommy:
All right, let's try. Rosie, it's clean up time. See? The toys go in here. That's right, sweetie. Now go get some toys.
Caillou:
Mommy, look. Rosie's playing. It's not fair. I wanna play like Rosie.
Mommy:
Caillou, Rosie is still too little to understand about cleaning up. I'll do her share until she's bigger. Caillou, you're old enough to do your own cleaning up.
Storyteller:
Caillou did not think that Mommy was being fair. He was very angry.
Caillou:
I want my milk in a training cup, too.
Mommy:
All right.
Caillou:
And I want my sandwich in little pieces, like Rosie. Me too, Mommy.
Mommy:
A bib for you? Caillou.
Caillou:
I like being a baby.
Storyteller:
Caillou thought that being a baby was much better than being four.
Mommy:
I don't mind if you want to play baby, Caillou. But please don't be such a messy baby.
Storyteller:
Caillou and Rosie had lots of fun playing baby after lunch.
Caillou:
A nap?
Mommy:
Yes, it's naptime for my two little babies. Get into bed, Caillou, and I'll come tuck you in.
Storyteller:
Caillou didn't really want to have a nap. But if he was going to be a baby like Rosie, he had to.
Mommy:
Have a nice nap, Caillou. What's going on, Caillou?
Caillou:
I don't wanna have a nap.
Mommy:
That's what all babies do in the afternoon.
Caillou:
I don't want to be a baby. I want to be four again.
Mommy:
Good. How about a game of animal snap?
Caillou:
Okay.
Mommy:
I'm so glad you're four again, Caillou.
Caillou:
I win.

Storyteller:
Are you two strapped into your seats and ready for takeoff. It's storytime. Look at Caillou. He's ready for takeoff too. Because today's story is called "caillou flies on a plane". Caillou was going on vacation with his family and this was the first time he'd ever been on a plane.
Daddy:
There you go.
Storyteller:
Caillou was curious about everything.
Daddy:
Leave that alone, Caillou. We'll be taking off very soon. Just sit back, please.
Mommy:
Are you two behaving yourselves?
Caillou:
Mommy. You have to sit back.
Storyteller:
The plane was taking off. Caillou loved looking out of the window at the disappearing ground below.
Daddy:
Those little white things are houses, Caillou.
Caillou:
Daddy, are we there yet?
Daddy:
No. Not yet.
Stewardess:
Would you like some breakfast?
Caillou:
Breakfast? Yes.
Storyteller:
Caillou had never had breakfast on a plane before. After breakfast Caillou's Daddy was listening to some music. Caillou was very curious about how it worked.
Daddy:
Ouch.
Pilot 1:
Good morning, young man. How are you enjoying the flight?
Daddy:
Say hello to the pilot, Caillou.
Caillou:
Hello!
Pilot 1:
Would you both like to come and see how I fly the plane?
Caillou:
Oh, yes.
Daddy:
We'd love to. Thank you very much.
Pilot 1:
Welcome to the flight deck. This is Caillou.
Pilot 2:
Hi, Caillou!
Caillou:
Hi! Daddy, what's that?
Daddy:
Those are clouds, Caillou.
Caillou:
Clouds? Really? Are we in the clouds now?
Daddy:
Yes.
Caillou:
I like being in the clouds.
Pilot 1:
We'll be landing soon, so you'll have to go back to your seats. Oh, I almost forgot. All our junior pilots get one of these.
Storyteller:
Caillou was very excited to have this special pilot's badge. Pretty soon the plane was landing at the airport.
Caillou:
We're on the ground.
Stewardess:
Thank you for flying with us today. I hope you have a wonderful vacation, Caillou. And I hope we'll see you again when it's time for you to fly home.

Grandma, read us a story about Caillou.
Storyteller:
All right, let's see what he's up to today. Today's story is called "Rosie Bothers Caillou". Caillou was having fun playing with his blocks. Now he was going to build the tallest tower in the whole world.
Caillou:
Whoa.
Storyteller:
This was the tallest tower Caillou had ever made.
Rosie:
Boo.
Caillou:
Don't do that, Rosie. Beep, beep. You broke my road. Go play with your own toys. Rosie, Rosie, give me those. Mommy! Rosie won't stop bothering me.
Mommy:
Maybe she just wants to play with you.
Caillou:
But I don't wanna play with her.
Mommy:
Caillou, I'm busy. And I can't be solving your problems all the time.
Caillou:
But Mommy...
Mommy:
You and Rosie have to learn how to work out your own problems.
Caillou:
No, we can't.
Mommy:
Caillou!
Storyteller:
Caillou was happy reading his book all by himself without Rosie bothering him.
Caillou:
Go away, Rosie! Go out of my room!
Rosie:
No. No. No. No.
Caillou:
Stay out! Go away!
Mommy:
Books are for reading, not for hitting.
Caillou:
Go away!
Mommy:
Caillou, did you make Rosie cry?
Caillou:
No.
Storyteller:
Caillou was glad that Rosie wasn't going to bother him any more. Caillou had been playing in his room all by himself for a long time. But now he was starting to feel bored.
Caillou:
Hey!
Storyteller:
He wanted to play a game, but he didn't want to play all by himself. So he changed his mind about Rosie.
Caillou:
Rosie?
Storyteller:
Caillou remembered that playing with Rosie was fun.
Mommy:
What do I see here?
Storyteller:
Now Caillou was so busy playing with Rosie, he didn t want his Mommy to bother him.

Storyteller:
Grandma was taking Caillou birdwatching today and Caillou couldn't wait. He loved going on adventures with Grandma.
Caillou:
No birds here.
Grandma:
Are you sure? Listen carefully.
Caillou:
I can hear them. Where are they? Grandma, I see them. Look! There!
Grandma:
Would you like to see them closer?
Storyteller:
Grandma always knew what to do, almost like magic. Caillou didn't know what to expect next.
Grandma:
Here, open your hands.
Caillou:
Seeds?
Grandma:
That's right. You'll see, we'll get some company very soon. Watch!
Caillou:
Look, Grandma, the bird is eating. Hey, bird, come back.
Grandma:
It's all right, Caillou, you see, small birds are afraid of big people like us. We have to stand very still and be very quiet so they won't be afraid.
Storyteller:
Soon a new bird came to eat some seeds, then another, and a few more, Caillou couldn't believe it.
Caillou:
Look! Oh, boy!
Grandma:
Let's try a trick. Can you stand up? Good! Put your arms like this in front of you and stand very still.
Caillou:
The bird, Grandma, it's on my hand.
Storyteller:
Caillou was so excited. He'd never had a bird sitting on his hand before.
Caillou:
We're leaving? Why are you whistling?
Grandma:
Well, it's like talking to the birds. And if we're lucky, the birds will talk to us. That's a good try. You'll see, it takes a bit of time. You have to practice.
Storyteller:
Grandma was happy Caillou enjoyed watching birds. She decided to give him a special present.
Caillou:
It's a house.
Grandma:
Yes, but not just any kind of house. Look.
Caillou:
Grandma, the seeds are coming out.
Grandma:
That's right, they're supposed to come out. This is a bird feeder. I've had it for many years, I thought you might enjoy it now.
Caillou:
Will the birds come?
Grandma:
I don't know, we'll find out.
Storyteller:
Grandma and Caillou decided to hang the bird feeder near the back porch.
Grandma:
This is a fine place. You'll be able to watch birds from inside the house.
Storyteller:
And that's how Caillou became a birdwatcher, just like his Grandma.

Poor Caillou. He really got himself into trouble this time. Just look. I wonder what's going on. Let's find out. Today's story is called "Caillou and the Doll". It all started when Caillou's Mommy was putting on her makeup, getting ready to go out. Caillou liked all the different colors of the makeup. They looked like a paint box.
Caillou:
What are you doing, Mommy?
Mommy:
Putting on makeup.
Caillou:
Why?
Mommy:
To look pretty when I go out.
Storyteller:
Caillou thought his Mommy looked very pretty.
Mommy:
Don't play with that, please. Julie will be here soon, Caillou. Why don't you go downstairs and wait for her?
Caillou & Rosie:
Bye bye, Mommy.
Julie:
Eat up, Rosie. Why don't you go and play by yourself for a bit while I get Rosie ready for her nap.
Caillou:
Okay.
Rosie:
Bye bye!
Julie:
How about a story?
Storyteller:
Seeing his Mommy's makeup gave Caillou an idea for a game.
Julie:
Caillou? Where are you? What are you doing?
Storyteller:
Caillou knew he'd spoiled Rosie's doll and he was afraid Julie would be mad at him.
Julie:
Ah! There you are. Caillou? What have you been doing?
Rosie:
Julie. Julie.
Julie:
Oh dear. Rosie's woken up. Caillou, have you seen Rosie's doll anywhere?
Caillou:
No.
Julie:
Are you sure? She says she left it in the bathroom. Wait a minute, what's that? Stand up a second, Caillou. Caillou. What happened to the doll?
Caillou:
You're mad at me and Mommy's going to be mad at me too.
Mommy:
Oh dear. Something tells me you've been having a busy afternoon.
Rosie:
Mommy.
Mommy:
Let's see if we can sort it all out. Shall we?
Storyteller:
Caillou explained how he'd spoiled the doll and how he'd been afraid everyone would be mad at him.
Caillou:
I wanted the doll to be pretty like you, Mommy. But everything went wrong.
Mommy:
Well, Caillou, Rosie still thinks her doll's pretty.
Caillou:
I'm sorry, Mommy.
Mommy:
I know you are, honey.
