谢谢你!终于弄明白了!
在网上也查到这一段:Most people pronounce Bach as though it were spelled Back (as in the friendly Welsh address) Other common pronunciations include Batch, and Baache, used by Dr Bach's daughter, or Bach as in the German composer.
还有:The point is that if you are going to pronounce Bach and Mach with a Germanic "-ch" full of spit and crackle, should we not say Richter in the same way?
Dr Wordsmith writes: No.
Dear Dr Wordsmith, Why not?
Dr Wordsmith writes: Because the man who gave his name to the Richter Scale, Charles Francis Richter, was not German or Austrian, but American, and Americans never pronounce European names properly if there is a wrong alternative to choose. They always say "the Rikter Scale", for example.
Yes I pronounce Bach more like the chicken "bock," but Arnold has that sometimes heavy German accent which makes his back and Bach rather similar. It is a very good joke, it is just that Arnold's "I'll be back" line is so infamous it is almost painful to hear anymore. |
