弹出的扑克牌 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 材料：硬币、塑料扑克牌或者索引卡片实验：将你的一只手攥成拳头，同时把食指伸出来。把一张扑克牌平放在你伸出的食指上，把一枚硬币放在牌的中心，用另外一只手将扑克牌弹出去。如果你将扑克牌弹出时能使它保持水平，就会发现只有扑克牌飞出去了，而硬币则稳稳地落在了你的指尖上。原理：所有的物体（包括硬币）都有惯性。当你用手指弹扑克牌时，手指向前的运动被转移到扑克牌上，而不是硬币上，所以扑克牌飞出去而硬币留了下来。因为硬币没有被触动，它的惯性使它保持在原来的位置上。

静态旋转 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 材料：杯子、植物油、水、食物染色剂实验：在杯子里倒上半杯水，小心地把油加进去，使水面上漂着薄薄的一层油，再滴入四滴食物染色剂。色滴应该在假想的正方形的四个角上。把杯子放在桌子上，等里面的液体静止后，从上面抓住杯子，迅速地旋转1/4圈，液面上的色滴有什么变化？你能够解释你所观察到的现象吗？原理：油和水是不相溶的。把油倒进水里，油漂在水面上，因此，当色滴加到油表面时不会流进油层下面的水中。由于食物染色剂不溶于油，所以色滴在油层上呈圆形小滴。尽管杯子旋转了1/4圈，但是小色滴（以及杯子里的其他液体）几乎保持静止，这是因为这些物质具有惯性，从而保持了它原来的静止状态。

上下翻飞的水 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 材料：小塑料沙桶、半米多长的结实的绳子、一杯水实验：剪一段半米多长的绳子，把绳子系在沙桶的提把上。检查一下绳子结，确信它不会松开，然后往桶里倒一杯水。到屋外的某个地方或者找一个不怕被水溅湿的地方，一定要使你周围有足够的空间，这样你才不会打到别人或者东西。现在抓住绳子的一端，提起桶，先轻轻地平稳地摆动小桶，使它做圆周运动，然后逐渐加大摆动的力量和角度，使桶“逐渐上升”，直到完全旋转起来，这时，桶里的水会怎样呢？原理：旋转运动产生了一个类似力的效果，这个力把水保持在桶里。由于旋转产生的这个力比重力大得多，因此，即使当桶转到你的头顶的位置而完全颠倒过来时，水也不会流出来。

精彩的捕捉

材料：

一摞硬币

实验：

把这摞硬币稳稳地放在你的胳膊肘上，然后把手臂猛地向前伸出，在空中抓住硬币。

原理：

像许多游戏一样，这个小把戏并不像看起来那么难，这是因为你有一个“助手”：惯性。当你的手臂猛地向前伸出时，硬币就悬在了半空中。由于惯性，它们不会移到一边或者很快往下落，相反，开始时它们下落的速度很慢，这时，你的手已经快抓到它们了，因此硬币没有足够的时间达到一个很快的速度，而这个相对较慢的运动使它们成为理想的空中捕捉目标。
