在作业1-4‘倒扑’和吃‘接不归’的题里，‘扑’起了决定的、重要的作用，它使对方‘自撞一气、自紧一气’。在自紧一气后，对方的棋马上就出现了不可补好的毛病。
4题中，4-1a位的‘扑’最关键，白b提后，自撞一气。4-2里a位再叫吃，白两个 断点不能兼顾，粘了前边，就被从后边吃了，俗称‘接不归’。
6题是黑5子与白3子对杀。6-1谁都不能先紧公气，黑棋a位的‘扑’是关键，使得白棋产生两个断点，因而不能直接紧黑棋 位的气——不入气。6-2白棋a位粘时，黑已在b位抢先手叫吃白3子了。6-1图里a位的‘扑’起到了长一气的做用。
