. . . . . James Howe 的 Bunnicula and friends (Ready to Read Level 3) by James Howe, Jeff Mack (Illustrator) Bunnicula http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunnicula Bunnicula is a children's book series written by James Howe (and his late wife Deborah in the case of "Bunnicula") about a vampire bunny that sucks the juice out of vegetables. It is also the name of the first book in the series, published 1979 (ISBN 0-689-80659-0). The story is centered on the Monroe family and their pets and is told from the perspective of their dog Harold. The Monroes find a bunny at the theater where they were watching a Dracula film. Because of this, they name him Bunnicula. Their cat Chester, however, is convinced Bunnicula is a vampire and attempts to get Harold to help save the Monroes from the perceived menace. The full name of the first book is Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery. The second and third books of the series are Howliday Inn and The Celery Stalks at Midnight. Nighty-Nightmare followed in 1987, followed by Return to Howliday Inn in 1993. In 1999, Bunnicula Strikes Again!, was published. Bunnicula Meets Edgar Allan Crow was published in 2006, and appears to be the final book in the Bunnicula series. There is also the book "Howie Monroe and the Doghouse of Doom," a spoof of Harry Potter. Following the end of the Bunnicula series, James Howe began a spin-off series called Tales from the House of Bunnicula, which are 'written' by Howie, the dachshund puppy introduced into the series in Howliday Inn. There is also a series called Bunnicula and Friends: Ready To Read. They are a series of five picture books about adventures of the characters from the stories. They are aimed for beginning readers. Bunnicula and Friends a Ready-To-Read series Many of these titles are re-workings of previously released Bunnicula books rewritten by James Howe for younger readers and featuring new illustrations by Jeff Mack.

About James Howe James Howe born: August 02, 1946 in Oneida, New York, The United States gender: male genre: Young Adult, Children's Books James Howe is the American author of several juvenile and young adult books, including the Bunnicula series, about a vampire-bunny that sucks the juice out of veggies. At the age of nine or ten, Howe wrote a play based on the "Blondie" comic strip as well as a variety of short stories and self-published newspapers, his favorite being "the Gory Gazette," made for a self-founded club: Vampire Legion. Howe would continue to write plays during his theater studies at Boston University, and eventually move to New York City to pursue a career as an actor and model while directing plays and working as a literary agent. In the mid-70s, Howe's wife, Deborah, encouraged him to create a children's story based on the Dracula movies of the 70s. With his wife, he created Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of Mystery, about a pet rabbit suspected of being a vampire. The book would go on to win more than ten Children's Choice awards, including the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award and the Nene Award, and eventually evolved into a series. Shortly after Bunnicula was published Deborah fell victim to cancer and died, inspiring the creation of The Hospital Book. In 1981 Howe began writing full-time. In addition to the Bunnicula series, Howe has written picture books, children's novels, nonfiction, adaptations of classic stories, and screenplays for movies and television. Recently he published his first two young adult novels, The Watcher and The Misfits. The Misfits was the inspiration behind GLSEN's annual No Name-Calling Week. After the death of his first wife, Howe remarried and fathered a daughter, Zoey, but eventually divorced and came out as gay. He is currently in a committed relationship with lawyer Mark Davis. In 2007, James Howe was the recipient of The E.B. White Read Aloud Award for Picture Books for his book Houndsley and Catina, illustrated by Marie-Louise Gay, and published by Candlewick Press. . . . . .

Ready-to-Read: Bunnicula and friends #1, The Vampire Bunny by Deborah Howe and James Howe Atheneum Books for Young Readers Leveled Reader Bunnicula has been adapted for level 3 in the leveled reading series “Ready to Read”, and surprisingly, not much of the story’s original charm is lost in this simplified re-telling. Harold, the patient sheepdog, recounts his family’s reactions to their newly adopted vampire bunny. Due to the intended audience, it is forgivable that the illustrations have been injected with cute—Alan Daniel’s realistic animals are replaced by Jeff Mack’s muppet-like ones. A great choice for beginning readers yearning for independence, ages 6-8. ****
