诺曼·洛克维尔，一个在方寸的封面上展现全世界的画家，他在美国家喻户晓。当你看诺曼·洛克维尔的作品时，你就好像在另一个星球上看到的某个奇幻的迷你世界，充满了孩童般的纯真和烂漫。洛克维尔是美国画家中最完美地描绘了美国梦的人。在史蒂芬·斯皮尔伯格的《太阳帝国》中，我们对小男孩手里的那幅画一定有着深刻的印象。这位世界著名的大导演说：我对诺曼·洛克维尔最初的记忆是一种潜意识，他代表着我希望在其中成长的美国，他已经成了美国建构的一部分。从杂志封面到广告日历，洛克维尔在封面世界里似乎无处不在。从他的画里，我们可以读出像电影中一样表现力丰富的对白。《星期六邮报》刊发了他几乎所有的名画，而紧接着，《生活》、《形象》杂志又取得了发表他作品的资格。对于诺曼·洛克维尔自己来说，创作似乎成了人生中不可或缺的部分，激情和想象力都因着这些颜色、线条和光影而焕发出神奇的魅力。他表现孤独、表现战争、他的画冷静的表现着浮躁的社会。
