不要因為孩子年紀小就讓他恃寵而嬌，任由他霸佔著喜歡的電視節目；應明確地訂出幼兒的電視時間，同時也趁機教導他尊重其他人的喜好。

Be in control of your child's television viewing habits from a young
age. Set the amount of time he is allowed to watch television and teach
him to respect other's television interests.

孩子不乖乖吃飯，一頓飯時間拖得好長，讓媽媽很煩惱；此時可以請孩子和定時器比賽，看是飯會先吃完？還是嗶嗶會先響？

If your child is unable to behave himself at the dinner table or is
having a difficult time finishing his meal, have him try to compete with
a stop clock to finish before an allotted time.

即使是幼兒，父母也不必凡事都為其做決定；給孩子一個範圍，然後由他自己做選擇，逐漸培養其獨立自主的精神。例如：幫孩子洗完澡後，媽媽可以先準備好幾套
合適的衣服，讓孩子從中挑選喜歡的穿。

Even if your child is quite young, parents should avoid making all his
decisions. Give him a certain range of freedom so that he may be
encouraged to be independent. For example, after bathing your child,
have him choose what he would like to wear for the day.

愉快的用餐氣氛可促進食慾並幫助消化，父母可以帶頭在吃飯時講些輕鬆的笑話、誇獎孩子或是感謝的話等，溫暖用餐的情緒；即使孩子的行為需要教訓，也請不要
利用吃飯時間算帳。

A happy atmosphere at the dinner table promotes healthy appetites and
good eating. Parents can tell a funny story or compliment the child on
what's he's done during the day as a way to improve the dining mood.
Avoid using meal time to scorn your child for his misbehaviors.

教導孩子確保自身的安全，從日常生活中就可以常常灌輸孩子，對於陌生人所給的糖果、玩具應先問過父母。「什麼是對的、是可以做的」或「哪些是不可以、是不
對」等觀念的判斷能力。

Teach your child the importance of his own safety. Help him to
differentiate between "right" and "wrong". For instance, it is the right
thing to do to ask one's parents before accepting something from a
stranger.

父母動不動就會說「孩子那麼小哪會聽音樂」、「影片內容對小孩太難了」......。通常大人對「困難」或「容易」的定義是不太適用於孩子，倒不如用順其
自然的方式讓孩子接收各方面的資訊。

Parents may judge the difficulty level of certain things such as music
and movies for their child. What an adult assumes as easy and difficult
differs from that of a child. Thus, have your child take in information
in his own way.

對孩子來說，可以摸的、看的東西都可以是玩具。父母習慣用既定的方法來限制孩子使用，反而容易抑制孩子的創造力及想像力。

To a child, anything that can be seen and touched is a prospective toy.
Parents may hinder a child's creativity and imagination by limiting the
ways in which the child can play with certain objects.

父母在教孩子認識一些「名詞」時，可以配合東西的形狀、數量及顏色，讓孩子在表達能力上可以更具體且明白。例如：「一個圓形黃色的橘子」。

When teaching a child to identify certain nouns, use the ideas of shape,
amount and color to encourage your child to be more clear and specific.
For example, instead of saying "a lemon", he can say "a round, yellow
lemon."

提昇孩子的記憶能力，可以透過記憶數字遊戲。例如在紙上寫下5-10組的數字，一分鐘後讓孩子在時間內寫出所記憶的數字。

One can help a child's memory skills by playing numerical memory games.
For example, write down five numbers or so and then have your child
write down all the numbers he can remember within an allotted time.
