It’s October. There is only one thing on all of our minds: Halloween. No matter how you split it, that’s what October is about. Well, it’s also about playoff baseball but this isn’t the site for that. If you are thinking about Halloween, and you know you are, then you are already thinking about your costume. I’ve seen some great costumes over the years, from all out Boba Fett get-ups, to mega-creative zombies and so on. I’m not even going to think about the amazing cosplay costumes I’ve seen as well.

So what if you are cheap (like me) and want to get a cheap, but still geeky costume for that Halloween party that is just around the corner? Not to mention, you just don’t have the time to spend on creating a mega creative and still cheap costume. I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather spend $100 at the comic book store than on a costume. Plus I’m just too damn lazy and time pressed to put much effort into one. Feel the same way? Well, here are some geeky costume ideas that will save you money (and tons of effort) and still let you keep your geek cred.
那如果你是个屌丝（比如我），想搞件价廉又不失极客的扮装以备即将到来的万圣节派对？不说也知道，你只是没时间去创造个创意十足又便宜的扮装。你呢我不知道，反正我是宁愿花100刀在漫画书店也不会花在一件扮装上。 PS 我只是太TMD的懒了，时间紧迫也没法花太多精力在一件破事儿上。有同感不？ 这又一些极客扮装的点子，而且既省钱（和大量精力）又不失你的极客风范。

10. Doctor Who. Take your pick. I’d go with either the Tom Baker Doctor, sporting a long scarf, plaid shirt, hat and jacket (all can be picked up cheap at your local Goodwill) or the David Tennant Doctor. He preferred a trench coat but could often be seen sporting dapper leather jackets and T-shirts, all of which you should already have in your closet.

9. Agent Smith. This one is perfect for guys like myself, who don’t have the hair to pull off a Neo costume. The balding and angry Agent Smith is perfect, all you need is a black suit, white shirt, thin black tie and sunglasses. It’s the same emo outfit you wore to all those Ska concerts!

8. Bele or Lokai. You can buy Star Trek uniforms, so they are out. So how about obscure characters from the original series? That’s totally in. Episode #70 “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield” featured a couple of aliens named Bele & Lokai, who were clear representations of racial problems back in the 20th century (real life.) On screen, easy costume to replicate. Black and white face paints, with grey shirt and pants. Done. Additional geek data: Bele was played by Frank Gorshin whom you may remember as The Riddler.

7. Carl Sagan. That’s right. Go dressed up as one of the greatest astronomer/authors ever. He was frequently seen sporting a nice turtleneck sweater or a simple dress shirt and jacket. The important thing to remember here is the hair. A wide comb over to the left should do. Show lots of forehead and smile bright. That was Carl.

6. Silver Surfer. You may have to go to the gym with this one. Not to mention walk around naked. Tons of silver body paint and a silver banana hammock and you’ve got a very simple and cheap costume. If you want to paint a surfboard silver and carry it around, feel free, but those things aren’t cheap.

5. MC Frontalot. Yeah, that’s right. I’m suggesting you dress up like the king of nerdcore, MC Frontalot. I can’t imagine it’d be much of a challenge for most of you. Let’s see, short sleeve dress shirt (closet full of those,) obnoxious or off color tie (check,) pen in pocket (triple check.) Add in the thick framed black glasses and you’re all set. Thing is, I’m not the first GeekDad to suggest dressing as MC Frontalot.
5.MC Frontalot。对头，没错儿。我建议你扮成搞怪说唱天王，MC Frontlot。我无法想象这能成为你们中的大多数的挑战。让我们来瞅瞅，短袖工装T恤（衣橱里全是这玩意儿），恶心的或者掉色的领带（切克），胸前袋里插支钢笔（再三切克）。再加上粗黑框眼镜你就完全扮好了。问题是，我可不是第一个建议扮成MC Frontalot的极客达人。

4. Princess Leia. Yeah, it’s a gimme but I should have a suggestion for the ladies, right? This one is easy. Make a dress out of a white sheet, tie your hair up in buns. Add black belt. Done. You don’t even have to wear shoes.

3. Alex DeLarge. I considered keeping this one off the list because it already is a pretty popular costume, but then so is the Leia one. It’s still cheap and efficient though. To prepare yourself for a bit of the ultra violence all you’ll need is a white dress shirt, white pants, black books and a beat up top hat. Oh yeah, don’t forget to wear your jockstrap on the outside of your pants and steal your grandfathers cane. Viddy well.

2. Holly (Red Dwarf). Get a cardboard box, cut a hole in it. Paint it black. Put on head. Make sure to wear a black turtleneck so you look like a floating head on a screen. Make snarky remarks at family and friends. This one works for both a man – and a woman!
