【语法1】来认识认识 parts of speech 吧

语法在英语学习中很重要，不管是母语，还是作为外语学习，这个问题应该是不用再讨论的了。在中国的学校里上学，老师一定会教语法，而且还肯定是教学重点呢，所以我不会再用老师的方式去教孩子学语法、做习题的，我们可以用其它的方式作些补充。先来认识认识英语的 parts of speech （词性）吧。

Learning about the parts of speech is the first step in  grammar study just as learning the letters of the alphabet is the first step to being able to read and write.  

英语的词性一共有九类：

PART OF SPEECH	BASIC FUNCTION	EXAMPLES
noun	names a person, place, or thing	pirate, Caribbean, ship
pronoun	takes the place of a noun	I, you, he, she, it, ours, them, who
verb	identifies action or state of being	sing, dance, believe, be
adjective	modifies a noun	hot, lazy, funny
adverb	modifies a verb, adjective, or other adverb	softly, lazily, often
preposition	shows a relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and other words in a sentence	up, over, against, by, for
conjunction	joins words, phrases, and clauses	and, but, or, yet
interjection	expresses emotion	ah, whoops, ouch
article	identifies and specifies a noun

我们当然不会这么死板板地把这样一张表给孩子去读，去记的，而是通过一些有趣的书来学习，来认识，要让这些语法术语表现得活生生的。

Make Grammar Terms Come Alive!

介绍两套语法绘本：

第一套是 Ruth Heller 的 world of language 系列绘本。

认识这套书，是通过 我用的phonics教材 Spell to Write and Read （简写为SWR，有好几个帖子介绍了这套教材) . 买了书的朋友可以看第101页，第16步：introduce grammar principles

SWR 作者推荐语： Heller presents the parts of speech in a way that even young children can enjoy because of the beautiful full-color artwork on every page and the poetic cadence..........(省略若干字） They are not only good tools for children, but also an excellence form of adult remediation. Most teachers will gain a better understanding of grammar as well.

第二套就是  Brian P. Cleary 的系列语法绘本了，这套书本坛子里是有得下载的，不知哪位有心人可以整理一下做成专门的汇总帖子呢？

这套绘本比Ruth Heller的简单点，也更有趣一些，适合更小一些的孩子。

介绍的第三个资源是一本经久不衰的语法童话书Grammar Land ( by M. L. NESBIT)，最早出版于1878年，直到现在，仍然是美国很多homeschool 首选的 一本让孩子初次接触语法的书。

现在我跟女儿一起读的正是这本，而且是采用上面网页上所推荐的朗读方式，不过不是我读给她听，而是她朗读了绝大多数给我听。以女儿的年龄还愿意朗读这本书，可见它的魅力了。

喔，我想起来了。。。

我家孩子上的英语课，就学过一遍词性了。

记得学形容词的时候，反义词、近义词都是来来回回训练了不少的。

我喜欢的图，清楚的表明 Parts of Speech 和它们之间的关系。

不过，美国语法书一般都是8大词性，Articles 被归入 adjective 里。

是的，有将article 归入 adjective 里的，GRAMMAR LAND 这本书里也提到过，说a ,the  曾经是属于 adjective，不过后来归给adjective的cousin ：article了  

article 和 adjective 是cousin，多有趣！

从一楼的表中可以看出，它俩的功能相似，所以现代语法书还是会有合并派吧。

Grammar Land 介绍章标题是 Judge Grammar and His Subjects.

grammar land由大法官Judge grammar统治，他有两个非常有学问的顾问是Serjeant Parsing,  Dr.Syntax. 九个臣民总是吵吵嚷嚷，所以就被传唤到法庭，分别陈述自己。

九个臣民是：

rich Mr. Noun ，因为它拥有的词很多，所以非常富有
pronoun,  它是noun的好朋友，所以它可以代替noun的位置
little ragged article， 它非常贫穷，所以又小又衣衫褴褛，因为它只有两个词a, the （an其实也是a， article自己这样说的）
talkative adjective: 它总是爱给名词加上些形容的词语，确实是个饶舌多嘴的家伙
busy Dr. verb  and  adverb：每个句子都是需要verb的，它不忙还有谁忙呢？
perky preposition
convenient conjunction
tiresome interjection

后面几个还没读到，等读到的时候再去好好理解一下词性前面的那个形容词了。用那些形容词去表现每个词性的特点，真是非常有趣啊。
