下面是元元今晚做的英文作业。
Leaves gently floated down from the trees. Trees swayed and whispered as if dancing to the silent tune of the wind. The fall in Beijing was a symphony in red, brown and yellow.
I put down the work sheet in my hand and longingly glanced out the window. How I wished to bathe in the autumn sunlight! But piles of work sheets and test papers were placed in front of me, and it was absolutely impossible for me to go out while I had so much homework to do! Maybe all the people in the world knew that Chinese ninth graders had so much pressure and were as busy as a bee. Everyday, after I finish my homework, I see stars start to appear in the night sky. I have to go to bed. And when my alarm clock rings, the stars have just faded and the sky is still pitch black. Then it is time for me to go to school.
If only I had more time! If only I have time for flute, time for books, time for walking in the park, time for listening the water lapping against boats and the whispering of pine trees , time for finishing my English homework!
So while writing, I started thinking about what I should do if I had more time. I would read all the books I want: Ruby Holler, Savvy, Turtle in Paradise, The Underground, A Single Shard, The Thieves, Hurry Home Candy… I would sit on my soft, fluffy sofa and read until I fell asleep. Even then, my mind would be filled with words of the books. I would travel to the land of books.
I would go mountain climbing with my mom and we would hike to the mountain top. The view must be splendid from up there! I would see trees all in a bright, flaming red and hills covered in fallen leaves. The light wind would gently brush my cheeks, and silently kiss my hair. Wouldn’t that be the greatest feeling in the whole world?
If I had more time, I would go to a real ocean like Atlantic or Pacific. I would put my toes in to the icy water and feel the power of the mighty ocean. I’d bring my favorite book Olive’s Ocean and I’d even write loads of poems—the best poem in the whole entire universe! I had even thought of several good first lines for my poems.
The ocean is full of tears, you know
The sea gripped me and zipped me up
Ocean in eyes, ocean in heart
Can you make out the sound of the ocean?
Foaming, tossing, roaring
…
I slowly closed the window, and sighed. How I wish I had more time!
