我们开始教孩子Phonics的时侯,第一感觉就是exceptional读音的单词太多了,大家都知道“Silent final e lets the vowel say its name" 这条规则,比如: ate, ape, time, made ,ect ,可是遇到这些单词,比如have, come, love, give, live, some, move, rule, prove 等等,我们却无法跟孩子解释,只能把它当作特例让孩子死记。那么这些单词真的是特例吗?答案是否定的,之所以大家认为是特例,因为我们大多数人都不知道英语拼写规则中有5final silentE rules:
Silent E #1: The E makes the vowel say its name - time, rate, complete, cute...
Silent E#2: No English word can end with V or U, so this E protects us from breaking the rule - love, live, have, give, blue, clue, glue, ect ) 或许有人会想到flu这个单词,这个单词不是u结尾的吗,大家知道这个单词的全名是influenza, flu 只是它的简便的写法;那么you 呢,you 的结尾不是u吗?想一想当我们拼读这个you 单词时我们发出的声音只有 y ou ( /y/-/OO/),这里实际的结尾是ou,而不是u.
Silent E #3 - Softens C's and G's sounds and make they say their second sound. When C is followed by i,e, y it says its second sound /s/-city, cent, cycle; When G is followed by i,e,y, it may sayG second sound /j/ - giant, gem, gym. 为什么说may say, 因为get, girl, 还是发/g/ 的音。
Silent E #4: Every English syllable must have a vowel, so this E fills that role in these types of words and syllables - cas-tle, bat-tle, ta-ble, lit-tle
Silent E #5: No job/odd job E - In a word like 'are' the E helps us see that we are reading a word, not reading the phonogram/ar/. In a word like " raise" the E helps us see that we are not reading the plural of some odd word, 'rai.' (one rai, two rais...) In some words it is difficult to note a reason for the E so we take such words as having "no job"
知道了这5个final E rules, 特例单词少了很多吧。 |
