Once here were three little pigs.
They wanted to build their own houses.

The first little pig said, “I shall build a straw house. It will be quick and easy. Then I can go put and play.”

The second pig said,” I shall build a wooden house. It won’t take long. Then I can go out and play.”

The third little pig said, “I shall build a brick house. It won’t be easy. But I will have a strong house.”

One day a wolf came along.
He knocked on the door of the straw house.

“Little pig, little pig, let me in,” said the wolf.

“No!No! I won’t let you in,” cried the little pig.

“Then I will blow your house down,” said the wolf.

He huffed and he puffed,

And he blew the house down.

The little pig ran quickly to the wooden house.

Soon the wolf came to the wooden house.

“Little pigs, little pigs, let me in ,” said the wolf.

“No! No! We won’t let you in,” cried the two little pigs.

“Then I will blow your house down,” said the wolf.

He huffed and he puffed, and he blew the house down.

The two little pigs ran quickly to the brick house.

Then the wolf came to the brick house.

“Little pigs, little pigs, let me in,” said the wolf.
“No!No! We won’t let you in,” cried the three little pigs.

“Then I will blow your house down,” said the wolf.

He huffed and he puffed, but he could not blow the house down.

The wolf was very angry.

He jumped onto the roof and climbed down the chimney.

There was a big fire in the fireplace.

The wolf fell into the fire.

He ran away in pain.

2007年小宝英文读物_Thumbelina                        Thumbelina

Long ago, a farmer found a big pea pod in his garden.
He picked it and took it home to his wife.

The next morning, the pod popped open.

There inside, was a tiny girl!

The girl was only as big as the farmer’s thumb.
So they called her Thumbelina.

Every day, Thumbelina played happily on the kitchen table.

At night, she slept in a small bed made from a walnut shell.

One day, a big toad from the nearby river came to the garden

He saw Thumbelina playing on the table.

He wanted to marry her.

That night, the toad hopped quietly into the house.

He carried Thumbelina to the river.

Then he swam out to a water lily.

He left Thumbelina on a large leaf floating on the water.

Thumbelina did not like the toad at all.

She did not want to live with him.

She began to cry.

Two little fish were swimming nearby.

They popped their heads out of the water.

“Why are you crying?”
They asked.

“Because I want to go home,” cried Thumbelina.

“Please help me, little fish.”

The fish bit hard on the leaf’s stalk with their sharp teeth.

The stalk broke, and Thumbelina sailed away on the leaf.

Thumbelina’s leaf came to a rock by the river.

There she saw a little blue bird.

“Please help me, little bird,’ she said.

“I want to go home.”

“Climb on my back,” said the bird,
“And I will take you home.”

Thumbelina held on fast as the bird took to he sky.

The bird flew over the river and the fields.

At last, it came to the farmer’s house.

Thumbelina was very happy to be home again.

The moon is the brightest object in the night sky.

It reflects the sun’s light.

The moon seems to change shape during the moon.
The moon can look round like a circle.
It can look narrow like a banana.

The moon and Earth

The moon is Earth’s satellite.
It moves around Earth once month.
The same side of the moon always faces Earth.
The moon shines brightly at night.
It looks lighter in the day.
The moon is much smaller than Earth.
If Earth were a tennis ball, the moon would be the size of a marble.

The moon’s Surface

Gray dust and rocks cover the moon.
The moon’s Surface is rough,
Craters make the moon’s surface bumpy.
These holes formed when objects hit the moon.
The moon is not like Earth.
The moon has no air or water.
The sky is always black.

Astronauts have landed on the moon six times.

They gathered rocks and soil to study.

2007年小宝英文读物_Ali Baba and the forty thieves                        Ali Baba and the forty thieves

Long age, there was a woodcutter called Ali Baba.

One morning, Ali Baba was working near a big rock.

Suddenly he heard a gang of thieves coming.

Ali Baba quickly climbed up a tree to hide.

The thieves were big and fierce.

There were forty of  the them.

Their leader went up to the big rock and said,” open sesame!”

All at once, the big rock rolled aside.

There was a cave behind the rock!

The thieves went into the cave.

Before long, they came out again.

Then their leader said,” close sesame!”

And the rock moved back in front of the cave.

When the thieves had gone, Ali Baba climbed down from the tree.

He walked to the big rock and said,” open sesame!”

The rock rolled aside.

Ali Baba went into the cave.

He was amazed at what he saw.

The cave was full of gold and silver.

Ali Baba. Filled his pockets with gold coins.

Then he ran put of the cave.

“Close sesame,” he said.

At once the rock moved to hide the cave.

The next day, Ali Baba met his friend Kassim.

He told Kassim about the cave.

Kassim quickly ran home to get two big bags.

Then he went to the rock.

“Open sesame!” he said.

The rock rolled aside and Kassim Went into the cave.

Kassim Filled his two bags with gold and silver.

But he was very greedy and tried to put more in the bags.

Suddenly, the thieves returned to the cave.

They saw Kassim.

They were very angry.

They beat him and threw him out of the cave.
