Conclusion and recommendation
After its professional assessment the Working Group agreed that it cannot recommend that
the Doman method be offered as an alternative method of habilitation in Norway.
This conclusion is based primarily on lack of documentation of the method’s theory, implementation and effect. The Doman method involves a risk that the child - seen as a whole - is not ensured the best treatment, and the method makes it difficult to take care of fundamental human values such as self-determination, and possibilities for of social integration and self-expression.
