元宵节」是农历正月十五日，又称为「上元节」或「小过年」，由于在这一天要点灯放灯，所以又叫「灯节」。过去在农村，每逢此时，农民们便会自动组织起来，看花灯、跑旱船、扭秧歌、出花会。中国人过元宵节在汉朝就开始了。这一天夜里，家家户户无不点灯，元宵赏灯是传统活动在公众集会的地方，则有大的花灯会。为了使灯会热闹，发展出放烟火、猜灯谜的仪式。 元宵节除了赏花灯，最重要的活动是「吃元宵」
