The Giver 的第二节课需要推迟一周，如时间不合适的，可马上办理退款。
事情得知得比较突然，作出这样的安排，对不起大家及V粉们。
下面是Vicky老师的电邮。
Dear Dawn,
I hope all is well and that you are enjoying your vacation. :-)
I just wanted to let you know that there is a possibility that I will not be able to do THE GIVER book club this coming Sunday morning. I will know for sure on Saturday afternoon and will send you a message either way.
Joe's mom just had triple by-pass heart surgery over a week ago. She is not responding well at all. One of her lungs collapsed and she has not awakened since the surgery. Pneumonia is setting in and she is not breathing on her own. The doctors are running a brain scan tomorrow to see if she has any sign of brain activity. They do not think she does :-( If she does not, the doctors have told Joe that he needs to consider taking her off life-support. He asked me to be there with him when he receives the news. The chances are extremely high that she will die this weekend. I really would like to be there for him during the passing of his mother.
If - - - by chance, the brain test indicates that his mother still has brain activity, then I will return home and be ready for the session. I will let you know either way.
If, Joe does get bad news - - - I will be in Fort Wayne. If THE GIVER class cannot be postponed one week and if it will cause great hardship for you - - - then I can perhaps use Joe's laptop and teach the class from Fort Wayne.

Joe just called a few minutes ago and said his mother passed away. He is taking it very well, knowing that she went on to Heaven. I will be heading down to Fort Wayne sometime tomorrow morning. Thanks for understanding and thanks for praying. -- Vicky
PS. I will not be leaving until 9 or 10 my time, so it will not affect the morning Treasure classes. :-)
I am very sorry to do this again, but I will need to either postpone THE GIVER or cancel it, whatever is better for you. Joe's mom's funeral is Sunday. The viewing of her body is on Saturday for 5 hours and the funeral is Sunday. I will be leaving to go out of town as soon as my college classes are over on Friday. I am so very sorry. It is rare that I have to cancel or postpone a class, but I think you understand that this is an important exception.

I am sorry to hear that.
I think we had better cancel The Giver class. But is it possible to do the class earlier, 18:00/19:00 my time or 5:00/6:00 your time?

I'm not sure if the place I will be staying willl have internet access, so I think perhaps we should cancel the class.
If however, the students wish to have the class next week, I will give it to them for free. Of course, you can charge whatever you wish for your part - - - but I will not charge for my part of the class. I feel badly that I've had to postpone / cancel twice now. If the class is offered free or at a reduced price, perhaps the parents will be happy and let the students participate next year if the opportunity arises. I'm sad that I've caused any inconvenience to you , your school, or the students. It would be my pleasure to have the class without charging them to make up for the extra inconvenience I've caused.
I think the class would be good to have - just because now that death is very close to me - - the meaning of the theme of the story means much more. We could even talk about American funerals :-) since the theme of death is revelant to the story. Whatever you wish, I will do. :-)
