This week we spent some more time talking about our community in EEC class. We read the story from page 37 to 38 called School trip. Please ask your child to read it out loud to you over the weekend. I am going to grade it next week. If you have time and want to record your child’s reading, please go to www.vocaroo.com and email the recording to me at **** so I can give you feedback. It is also a nice way to monitor your child’s progress. If you need to confirm the pronunciation of any word you are not familiar with, either for New English Parade or Phonics book, you can go to www.howjsay.com.
Next week we are going to make our very own town. I ask the students to bring a box, some colored paper, glue and scissors so we can make a model of a building on Monday for 2A and Tuesday for 2B. I have also planned for a short quiz on Thursday.
The most important concepts in Unit 3:
Next to, between, word, recognition (names of buildings: hospital, school, post office, police office, fire station, restaurant, video shop, cinema, supermarket), but not spelling.
For our Phonics book: l Discrimination of consonant sounds that are alike, ex. Bus – bee l Words that rhyme, ex. Rake – cake, hat - cat
Homework: l Reading the story School Trip l Phonics page 12 and 13 l Review for the quiz
